Personal Development

At Launde Primary School, we believe that education is about more than academic achievement — it’s about nurturing well-rounded, confident, and compassionate individuals. Our Personal Development Curriculum is a rich and inclusive programme designed to support every child’s growth in character, wellbeing, citizenship, and cultural awareness.

From Early Years to Year 6, children experience a wide range of opportunities that build resilience, independence, and empathy. These include:

  • Trips, Visits & Residentials that enhance learning and broaden horizons.
  • Religious Education and Assemblies that foster respect, tolerance, and understanding of diverse beliefs.
  • PSHE & RSE lessons that promote healthy relationships, emotional wellbeing, and personal safety.
  • Leadership roles such as School Council, Eco Warriors, and Sports Leaders to develop responsibility and teamwork.
  • Mental Health Initiatives including ELSA support, wellbeing ambassadors, and awareness weeks.
  • STEM, Careers & Arts Enrichment to inspire creativity, ambition, and curiosity.
  • Community Engagement & Charity Work that instil a sense of civic duty and kindness.
  • Digital Safety & Media Literacy to empower children to navigate the online world safely and responsibly.
  • Celebrations of British Values and Protected Characteristics through assemblies, themed weeks, and curriculum links.

Our curriculum is carefully mapped to ensure progression and coverage across all year groups, with a strong emphasis on inclusion, diversity, and preparing children for life beyond primary school.

At Launde, personal development is not a standalone subject — it’s woven into the fabric of school life, helping every child to thrive socially, emotionally, and morally.
