Remembrance Day 2020

Our virtual assembly for Remembrance Day

11 November 2020

Today our school held a virtual assembly to remember those that fight for our country both in the past and nowadays. We shared poppy work that had been completed in Year 2. Zainab,  Aila and Caitlin had their work shown to the school on the screen. Below are the beautiful poppies that they created.

Ms Priddey concluded the assembly by reading out a verse from a poem called 'The Fallen' by Laurence Binyon:

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

Mr Woodhead played the 'Last Post' for everyone to mark the beginning of the two minutes silence.

View the attached powerpoint to hear the playing and view the poppy pictures.

Here is a photo of the memorial we have in school that displays a list of the senior children who went to the Launde senior school at the time of the first world war. It is displayed on our school wall by Bradgate classroom.
