Children spend 7 hours per week at play and we want to make this time as full of joy, creativity, independence and
FUN as possible, making the most of every minute as a learning opportunity.
OPAL (Outdoor play and learning) is a two-year project we have invested in to help us to do just this.
How can you help?
The big sand pit dig is this Sunday – 5th October from 10am -12m. All hands welcome – bring a spade.
We are still collecting the items on the bingo card. Drop them into the salt bins at the front of back of school.
Make sure your child has a waterproof coat and a change of shoes.
After half term some zones will become welly zones, so we will be asking if you can, for you to provide your child with a pair of wellies.
What has happened so far?
In order to open up the school grounds fully, we have reorganised the
lunch timings.
EYFS – 11.30 – 12.30
Yr1 – 12.00 – 1.00pm
Yr2 – 6 – 12.15 – 1.15pm
Yrs 2 and 3 eat their dinner at 12.15pm and Yrs 4 and 5 eat at 12.35.
Yr 6 may choose to eat when there is space, but all children must be
eating by 12.45pm.
To support this, there are new clocks around the site and the Play Team are on hand to remind children at these key times.
• New storage for loose parts has been purchased and these are arriving daily – you will soon see these appearing around the site.
• The site has been opened up and divided into zones – each one has been assigned to one of the Play Team. When we launch (after half Term) each zone will have its own designated activities that the children can play.
• Training has been undertaken by the Play Team on the facilitation of play.
• The school values have been developed to create the school rules to support OPAL .
